Desire to live - Breast cancer is a terrible prognosis. But there is a way out! | Inna Foundation

In the coming years, every twentieth woman in the world will face breast cancer and every seventieth will die from the disease – this is the forecast made by a group of oncologists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer at the World Health Organization. It is sad but true that every minute (!) four women in the world are diagnosed with a deadly disease, and one of them will die from it.

The fact is that scientists have analyzed statistics on breast cancer in 185 countries. This type of cancer is the most common in the world and ranks fifth in terms of the number of deaths from malignant tumors. In their report, published on the Nature Medicine website, experts report that in 2022, about 2.3 million new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed worldwide, with 670 thousand deaths from it. It’s official. That is, every minute during the year, four women in the world were diagnosed with this disease and one of them died from it. Take a calculator and check it out for yourself!

If these trends continue, researchers are saddened to say, by 2050 the number of new cases of this disease will increase by 38% – up to 3.2 million per year. And the number of deaths from breast cancer will increase by 68%, to 1.1 million per year. Unfortunately, this means that every twentieth woman in the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and every seventieth will die because of it.

Scientists see the only way to save from such a scourge is through early detection and prevention of the disease. Therefore, developed screening programs are very important. Treatment of “early breast cancer” is very effective and gives a survival rate of up to 90% after treatment!

All women should remember this and get checked regularly. Experts advise to do this every 1 to 2 years. There are no other effective options yet.
