Johnson & Johnson, an American multidisciplinary pharmaceutical company, is involved in a major carcinogenic scandal. The Guardian, a popular English news outlet, reports that lawyers representing 3,500 plaintiffs are preparing to sue J&J, accusing the company of selling talcum powder contaminated with asbestos. They claim that thousands of women and men have already contracted cancer after using J&J’s talcum powder. The victims have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer, and mesothelioma (a type of cancer that develops from a thin layer of tissue lining many internal organs, such as the lining of the lungs, abdomen, and heart).

Specialized law firm KP Law claims that the American multinational corporation knew in the 1970s that its talcum powder products contained dangerous asbestos, but did not warn consumers about it and continued to sell its products in the UK until 2022. So, the company is preparing to file documents with the High Court in London.

It is expected to be one of the largest lawsuits against pharmaceutical product groups in the history of English and Welsh law.

This is not the first time that cancer patients have reasonably accused well-known companies of manufacturing carcinogenic products. Earlier we reported that a similar lawsuit was filed against the pharmaceutical concern Bayer.
