Many of us do not pay attention to spoiled food and, for example, finding mold on bread will simply cut off the moldy area. And what? And money is saved and the rest of the bread is kind of normal. However, this cannot be done! Categorically! This mold produces the most dangerous organic compounds – aflatoxins.

Aflatoxins are toxic chemicals produced in food and feed by the bacteria Aspergillus Flavus or Aspergillus Parasiticus as a result of increased air temperature and humidity. Mold spores produce aflatoxins and contaminate foods. It is well known that aflatoxins are among the most potent carcinogens and mutagens (DNA damaging substances) known. The World Health Organization warns – such substances can cause cancer!

As a rule, aflatoxins affect bread, corn, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, figs, some spices. As a result of the consumption of contaminated feed by animals, aflatoxins also attack eggs, meat and dairy products (such as cheese). In addition, over time and with improper storage, these substances are formed in stale tea and other herbs. They are strong carcinogens and can affect all organs and systems of the human body, especially the liver and kidneys. They lead to liver cancer and are associated with other types of cancer.

So if your food has a moldy appearance or an unusual color, please get rid of it immediately! Remember – food containing molds increases your risk of cancer!
