In this case, scientists were studying the properties of ellagic acid (EA) and the possibility of using it for the treatment of cancer. It is known that this acid is a water-soluble antioxidant from the class of polyphenols. The main thing is that it has a pronounced antitumor and anticancer effect. In addition, EA does not change its structure from heating, freezing and is preserved in products during any preparation methods. EA is quite accessible to people – it is contained in sufficient quantities, for example, in homemade strawberries.

As a result of the study, it was shown that EA, administered separately, affects the cancerous tumor in several ways. In addition, EA may increase tumor sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Namely, the combination of acid with relatively low doses of therapeutic drugs or an optimized dose of radiation can improve the outcome of such treatment. More importantly, EA can counteract the side effects associated with chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Thus, strawberries may be useful in the treatment of cancer. As scientists conclude, ellagic acid, both by itself, well resists the development of cancer, and in combination with the use of PCT enhances the effect of the drug. In addition, it contributes to the speedy recovery of the body after such procedures!
