Staff of the “Inna” Foundation continue to inform their readers about scientific research, the results of which can reduce the risk of developing cancer.
The use of a large number of sugar substitutes can provoke the development of cancer! The results of a study by French scientists suggest that such a risk for people who use various sugar substitutes increases by 13% compared to those who avoid such products.
The scientific journal Plos Medicine reports that 102,865 people took part in the study. In the analysis, scientists took into account age, diet, bad habits, physical activity, body mass index, anamnesis. The observation period was 2009-2021. Food consumption (sugar, fiber, fruits, grains and dairy products, alcohol, sweeteners and others) was recorded on a daily basis, taking into account product brands. The association between cancer incidence and consumption of sugar substitutes was assessed using Cox proportional hazards models. Most often, the participants in the observation consumed products that contained aspartame (food supplement E-951, 58%), acesulfame potassium (supplement E-950, 29%) and sucralose (supplement E-955, 10%). These substitutes increase the risk of developing breast cancer and some cancers associated with obesity (stomach, liver, ovarian, laryngeal, endometrial and colorectal cancers).
The authors of the study draw attention to the fact that such sugar substitutes are used in the manufacture of many products. Therefore, they can be considered modifiable risk factors for cancer!
Foundation staff insist – pay attention to what you buy in the store! Not always tasty products in beautiful packages are good for health! And the results of the study of scientists confirm this!
