The best way to fight cancer is prevention and screening! Staff of the Inna Foundation constantly say that in the struggle for profit, food manufacturers use cheap, but sometimes dangerous substances. But junk food is one of the most important factors that cause cancer. And this is precisely established by experts. Therefore, buying products in the store, be careful and read the composition of what you buy, while paying attention to food supplements! Sometimes it is better to give up the purchase – you will be healthier.

One of the popular additives used in industry is the food additive E-171 (titanium dioxide). Titanium dioxide is insoluble in water and has the chemical formula TiO2. Ukraine is one of the countries that produces titanium dioxide.

It is known that in the food industry, titanium dioxide is used as a white bleach. E-171 is often used in the manufacture of sweets, milk powder, breakfast cereals, bakery products, chewing gum, pills. In addition, this additive is added to sauces, cheeses, and even toothpaste. In addition, titanium dioxide is used in the manufacture of paints, paper, plastics and other industries. Titanium dioxide was approved as a food additive in the EU in 2008. Much is said about the harm of this dye. For example, it has been banned in France since 2020. And now in all EU countries!

Yes, E-171 is now officially banned in the European Union from January 1, 2022! The fact is that such a supplement is recognized as genotoxic! This year, the European Food Safety Authority (ESFA) made this conclusion based on many years of research. Genotoxicity refers to the ability of a chemical to damage genetic material in cells. And this can lead to carcinogenic effects, ie increase the risk of cancer. According to the official website of the ESFA agency.

The article says: “The team (researchers, author) concluded that TiO2 particles can cause DNA chain breaks and chromosomal damage… Therefore, concerns about the genotoxicity of TiO2 particles that may be present in E-171 cannot be ruled out.”

Europe has put an end to the use of dangerous additives! However, E-171 is currently used in Ukraine and in some other countries. Therefore, be careful – it is not always useful what looks beautiful and appetizing on the counter!
