In developed countries, most cases of prostate cancer are detected at the very beginning of its development through early diagnosis or screening. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is usually asymptomatic for a long time. Therefore, it is imperative to know its later signs, such as:

  • problems with urination (slow or weak stream of urine, need for frequent urination);
  • blood in urine or semen;
  • erection problems (erectile dysfunction)
  • pain in the pelvis, back or spine;
  • weakness or numbness in the legs or feet;
  • sharp weight loss.

Of course, most of these symptoms can be caused by other diseases as well. For example, urinary problems are much more likely to be caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, it is important to see a doctor if you have any of these symptoms so that you can quickly understand the cause of the disease and, if necessary, begin timely treatment.
